Press Release: 2010-09-02

Berlin, IFA 2010 – They are slim, lightweight and fit in every pocket: the models in the new NAVIGON 20 series are suitable companions for weekend breaks, such as Paris shopping trips on foot or by car. For short breaks in autumn, NAVIGON presents the Easy and Plus versions.

Small but reliable
With its elegant design, the 3.5’’ display makes both models a chic accessory. “NAVIGON has the right device for every user,” says Jörn Watzke, Executive Vice President Product Line Management at NAVIGON. “With the 20 series we are offering handy entry-level models for leisure users and pedestrians.” Easy and Plus feature EU20 map material and their select features guarantee reliable navigation. Even traffic jams don’t have to be a problem – “TMC Routing Info” recognises congestion and offers alternatives. The “Active Lane Assistant” is particularly helpful in urban traffic: a dynamic travelling animation shows users when they have to change lanes. The “Speed Assistant” warns drivers as soon as they have exceeded the current speed limit. Thanks to “NAVIGON MyBest POI” your own special-destination categories can also be set. These will appear at the upper edge of the display. Thanks to the “One Click Menu” the icons and the menu bar can be hidden, increasing the size of the map for an even better overview. The main tool is the pedestrian navigation in a practical portrait format, helping leisure travellers to effortlessly find their bearings in unknown city centres. In addition, “NAVIGON Last Mile” stores the location where the vehicle is parked and guides you to your final destination on foot and then back again.

On the safe side with Comfort Plus
The NAVIGON 20 Plus comes with a selection of exclusive features and is aimed at those who place a great deal of emphasis on comfort, even though they only navigate occasionally. The “Motion Sensor” provides an additional degree of comfort and safety, activating the menu bars or NAVIGON MyBest POI without touching the display and remaining otherwise hidden – this means a larger section of the map can be displayed for navigation. As a further safety feature, the device comes with “Premium TMC” and “Text-to-Speech”, providing traffic information and street names so that the driver can concentrate even better on the current traffic situation. With “NAVIGON Sightseeing inspired by MERIAN scout” the Plus model shows its qualities as a travel guide, displays nearby tourist attractions – in full-screen mode if desired – and provides background information and reviews by the MERIAN editorial team, complementing the “NAVIGON Sightseeing Tours powered by ViaMichelin” feature with selected tourist routes in various European countries. The trial version has 14 different routes preinstalled. Further routes can be purchased from the NAVIGON Web shop. Both models will be available from the beginning of the fourth quarter. The NAVIGON 20 Easy costs €99; the NAVIGON 20 Plus costs €129.
